What did the Europe Day celebrations look like?
In 2025, EURES Slovakia celebrated Europe Day in several Slovak cities. The events, which attracted many visitors, reminded us of the importance of a united Europe and the values that positively influence our daily lives.
United in diversity: celebrating European values
This year was associated with the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which paved the way for cooperation between European countries. Europe Day commemorates the vision that brought European nations together 75 years ago for the common goal of peace, security, unity and prosperity.
European integration has brought Slovak citizens the opportunity to travel, study and work in EU countries without unnecessary obstacles. It created conditions for personal growth, career opportunities and self-realization.
For Slovakia, EU membership is also crucial in terms of access to the European Employment Services (EURES). Thanks to the national eures.sk portal and the common European platform eures.europa.eu, Slovaks have access to a wide range of job offers.
Europe Day in Slovak cities
Bratislava’s Europe Day 2025 was full of inspiration, fun and a European atmosphere. The European Parliament Office in Slovakia, the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia and dozens of other partners have created a picture of Europe’s diversity. Visitors were also awaited by information stands of EU member states, workshops, games, competitions, and a dance academy. The event included the exhibition “Hidden Treasures of Slovakia”, which presented Slovak sights restored with the support of EU funds through modern graphics. Pupils, students, but also seniors were interested in knowledge quizzes at the EURES stand.
In Košice, we were part of the European Village. By completing tasks at the stands of European institutions, visitors received stamps on special cards. Winners of interesting prizes were drawn from them. One of the packages donated by the EURES network was won by a student who came to the event from Kežmarok.
In Žilina, in addition to interesting presentations of European institutions, we enjoyed a varied cultural program, excellent music from the RAPEŠ radio, and competitions for great prizes. EUROPE DIRECT, the University of Žilina, the University Library, MIRRI, SAIA, E-Twinning, NIVAM, SYTEV, Erasmus+ and EURES were represented at the event.
In Lučenec, the event took place in the beautiful interior of the Town Hall. In addition to EURES, visitors could also obtain information from EUROPE DIRECT Lučenec, SAIA (Slovak Academic Information Agency), IZPI (Institute of Knowledge Agriculture and Innovation) and the Lučenec Leisure Centre. The entertainment was provided by the music group MIKOBAND.
Let’s recall with us the atmosphere of the celebrations that took place in Bratislava, Košice, Žilina and Lučenec.
