The cross-border partnership EURES-T Danubius created in the Slovak-Hungarian borders along the river Danube, covers the cross-border regions in the north-western part of the Hungarian border – Central Trans-Danubian, Western trans-Danubian and Central Hungarian, while in the Slovak part it covers south-western cross-border districts of Trnava and Nitra Region (Dunajská Streda, Komárno, Nové Zámky, Levice) and it underlines solidarity and duration of economy and labour market in the cross-border region as a whole.

It has been established from a support of the Slovak and Hungarian employment services, social partners and partner organizations to streamline mobility and solution of employment problems on both banks of the River Danube. It is directly supported by the EURES network – European Employment Services.

The objective of the EURES-T Danubius cross-border partnership is to support a process of cross-border employment by a mutual collaboration of partners from employment offices, representatives of employers and employees from regional committees dealing with employment issues and social partners.

The partnership was officially approved and accepted by the European Commission on April 1, 2007. It is the first authorized EURES-T partnership in the EU established between the two “new“ EU countries – Slovakia and Hungary. An important milestone, which upgraded partnership to a level of possible authorized official partnership, was signing of the framework agreement – EURES-T Danubius on December 4, 2006, which specifies targets, organization structure and internal rules of the partnership.
